Torreón, Coahuila, May 3, 2025 – The 2025 Santos Peñoles Cup has reached a decisive point as the group stage comes to a close. Matches are now played with heightened intensity and an unbeatable atmosphere, driven in large part by the passionate support of families and friends cheering from the stands at each venue.
Juan Antonio Gallardo, Sporting Director of Ángeles Soccer Elite—a Monterrey-based academy that regularly participates in the CSP and is competing in four categories this year—shared his impressions in a post-match interview:
“When families get involved, cheering and singing for the players, it creates a really awesome moment. It truly enhances the whole experience.”
Regarding what the academy seeks in this tournament, he highlighted:
“We’re looking for strong competition—7-a-side formats for certain age groups, 11-a-side for the older ones. This Cup adapts well to what our school is looking for. The level of competition, the fields, and the game schedule are all well-organized. It’s a tournament that gives families confidence.”
On the impact of playing in a professional environment, Gallardo added:
“The players are amazed to be so close to a First Division stadium. Being in a place where they can see professionals train is incredibly motivating—they’re thrilled to be part of this competition.”
He also reflected on his team’s early experiences in the tournament:
“There were some nerves at the start, adapting to those first moments on the field—but that’s what we expected. Everyone is excited to compete and move past the group stage.”
Finally, he shared his thoughts on the spectacular opening ceremony held at Estadio Corona this past Wednesday:
“We had a great time at the opening. It was an amazing show. Personally, I loved the musical performance and the drone display. Everything was really cool.”
