Torreón, Coahuila, April 30, 2025 – This Wednesday marked the spectacular opening of the 2025 Santos Peñoles International Cup, now in its 13th edition. This tournament, the most important youth and children’s competition in Mexico, has undoubtedly become a benchmark nationally and internationally.

The opening ceremony celebrated the Comarca Lagunera with a top-tier show featuring a live music group, fireworks, and a drone display.

This cup began several years ago with just 40 teams. Today, around 450 teams are competing for glory, with over 200 matches played daily across 18 categories.

As part of the CSP experience, there is a category for individuals with intellectual disabilities, reflecting the tournament's emphasis on inclusion as part of the “Ganar Sirviendo” (Winning by Serving) culture.

It's worth highlighting that the tournament is scouted by the Orlegi Sports Scouting Department. Many players have had the opportunity to compete in it, including Carlos Acevedo, Nicol de León, Jordan Carrillo, and Stephano Carrillo—recently transferred to European football and a product of the Santos Velardeña Academy.

Alejandro Irarragorri Kalb shared the following message: “Thirteen years ago, we started with 40 teams—today there are more than 450 here with us. I want to thank Rafael (Rebollar) for all the support he’s given us over the years. This is something truly special and shows that when there's unity of purpose, we can achieve great things. To all the participants, as a fellow youth, I hope to see you on my team someday—or at least cross paths with you in the future. Enjoy this tournament—it's yours.”

Rafael Rebollar added: “I want to thank Aleco Irarragorri and his entire team. It’s been 13 years working hand in hand with Santos Laguna, and we are very proud to be part of the organization of this event, which is the most important in the country. I reaffirm our partnership and commitment to continue promoting this great tournament for the benefit of Mexican children and youth. I also want to thank Mikel Arriola, President of the Mexican Football Federation, for his presence. To all the young participants: have fun, learn, and grow in this respectful sporting event.”
